After being told over and over again to either take things down or remove things from my desk by my office manager I stated feeling discouraged but not enough to give up. One day my office manager walked by and saw a PINK CARE BEAR that I had on my desk, she turned to me and told me I had to remove it. I decided that I would wait until the end of the day before I removed it and I am so glad that I did.
At the end of the day, a newly diagnosed young lady in her early thirties came into the office and as she approached my desk, I could see both tears and fear in her eyes. As I begin to check her in, she looked at me and said, "I just want to see my daughter grow up, I want to see her graduate and get married." My heart broke for her and understanding her journey to wholeness was just the beginning.
When she saw my pink Care Bear, she then started telling me how she remembered Care Bears and how they use to make her feel, and I shared my love for them as well. I immediately gave her the Care Bear. She resisted at first, but I insisted that she take it with her. I later found out through the nurses, that she held on to the Care Bear through her entire treatment.
The next time she saw me, she hugged me super tight with tears in her eyes telling my how much giving her a Care Bear meant to her. It was at that moment I decided to start giving away as many Care Bears as I could, as often as I could, to as many people as I could, every day.
I WITNESSED HOW EACH CARE BEAR TOUCHED A LIFE AND CREATED A SMILE FROM THE INSIDE OUT.
